LONGMEN GROTTOES SCENIC ZONE

龙门石窟景区位于古都洛阳城南十三公里处，这里两山对峙，伊水中流，风光秀丽，龙门石窟始凿于公元493年，现存窟龛2345个，佛像十万余尊，碑刻题记2800余品。香山寺始建军于北魏，白园是唐代诗人白居易陵墓。
  2000年11月被列入世界遗产名录。

Longmen Grottoes is situated 13km tothe south of Luoyang City 。Here thewest and east hills stand facing each other,with the Yi River washing its way through the gorge,forming a beautiful picture。
  The carving work at Longmen began in 493A。D。,and now remaining here are 2345 caves and niches,over one hrndred thousand Buddhist statues and more than 2800 pieces of inscriptions。
  Xiangshan Temple started to be constructed in Northern Wei Dynasty,and Bai Garden is the Tomb area of Bai Juyi,a famous poet of Tang Dynasty。
  Longmen Grottoes was inscribed on World Heritage List in November 2000。
