Pingyao is one of China’s three well-preserved ancient cities (the other two are Xi’an and Jingzhou). （平遥是中国现存最好的三座古城之一）Lying in the middle of Shanxi Province, 90 kilometers south of Taiyuan, Pingyao ancient city used to be about two hours’ drive from the capital of Shanxi Province. With the completion（完成） of a free way construction, the distance is shortened to one hour and ten minutes’ drive only.
